Graduation Assessments Required in BC
To graduate, students must complete three provincial graduation assessments:
- · Numeracy 10 (NME 10)
- · Literacy 10 (LTE 10)
- · Literacy 12 (LTE 12)
More details can be found here: https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/assessment/graduation-assessment
As part of B.C.’s provincial graduation requirements, students will participate in the Ministry of Education’s Graduation Literacy and Numeracy Assessments. According to the Ministry, these assessments “provide a snapshot of student performance in key areas” and help monitor outcomes across the education system. They are not tied to classroom marks or report cards; instead, they are completion requirements for the B.C. Graduation Program. These assessments are designed to be rigorous yet low‑stakes, focusing on real‑world literacy and numeracy skills rather than memorization. We want to reassure families that students are simply encouraged to do their best—there is no need for extra studying or stress.
