Indigenous Leadership 10

This program is a blended learning program to engage and support Indigenous students in the development of leadership and mentorship skills grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Students will develop a better understanding of who they are and where they come from, while learning about traditional Indigenous ideologies and methods of leadership. Students will be supported through online course work and field experiences, with the goal of increasing levels of self-awareness, communication skills, organization, community building, and cooperative relationships. Students will be introduced to Indigenous leaders, mentors and role models from our Indigenous communities, reflecting on the value of sharing knowledge and ideas about leadership. Through a variety of activities, the students will come to regard themselves as positive contributors to their Indigenous community and the community at large.

Indigenous Leadership 12

This course is a blended learning program to engage and support Indigenous students in the development of leadership and mentorship skills grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being. The focus of this course is to foster leadership skills and attitudes among Indigenous youth, as well as build positive self-identity and community.  Students will be challenged to further develop and refine skills, attitudes, and understandings through a variety of activities, both in and outside of the classroom, and to demonstrate high levels of personal responsibility and maturity in a variety of settings.  Students will be asked to identify positive mentors and role models, both locally and from the broader Aboriginal community, and be similarly challenged to view themselves as mentors and role models for younger students, peers, and the community.  Students will take their plan of action built in Indigenous Leadership 11 and put it into action. Through a variety of activities, the students will come to regard themselves as positive contributors to the Indigenous community and the community at large.
