Social Studies 8 – 10
Students are able to learn about the world in which they live, both its historic and geographic settings. The times and places studied depend on the particular grade. For specific content refer to specific IRP’s.

BC First Peoples 12
This course is a SS 12 course and does not meet the requirements for English 12.
Through this program, students will build knowledge around cultural, historical and contemporary topics as they relate to First Peoples. Students will also engage with the identities, worldviews, artforms, and languages of First Peoples with a specific focus on local First Nations and those in British Columbia/Canada. They will also study the past and current impacts of colonialism, as well as the diversity and resiliency of First Nation communities, as they continue to thrive and revitalize their cultures.

Contemporary Indigenous Studies 12
This course looks at indigenous cultures around the world, as well as the challenges and opportunities they have experienced in both the past and present.

Explorations in Social Studies 11
Explorations in Social Studies 11 is a flexible course that allows teachers to combine at least 3 of the different content learning standards and big ideas in a variety of ways. This allows teachers to create a wide variety of different courses to meet different student needs and interests.
