Registration – Full Time Grade 8 and 9 Students

SECONDARY Grades 8 & 9 Program

Please note the following:

  • In order to register for full time grades 8 & 9, you must withdraw from your home school.  If it is prior to June, please inform your home school that you will be withdrawing in June in order to attend Burnaby Online for the September 2025 to June 2026 school year.
  • Once enrolled Full-time Grades 8 & 9 students must not be attending any other school.
  • Students do not have to live in district, they can reside anywhere in BC.  Registration is open to students who are ordinarily residents of British Columbia.

  • Part-Time Study – Students who attend a Burnaby public school and wish to take a Grade 8 or 9 course with us:  Speak to your counsellor at your home school for permission to take a course at Burnaby Online – permission will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

Registration:

  • STEP 1: Contact the Burnaby Online Office at 604-296-6940 

    • Grade 8 & 9 Full-Time Students:  Registration opens on May 6th.

  • STEP 2: Speak to the Academic Advisor to discuss the grade 8 and 9 program for your child

    • Once you speak to our Academic Advisor – Monika Dhillon at 604-296-6940, and it is deemed that online learning at Burnaby Online would be a good fit for your child, you will be given a registration access password. You can then proceed with your registration by completing the Burnaby Online Registration form available at this link.
    • Important: When you register, if your child is a:
      • Returning Burnaby Online Student, please choose “Current Burnaby Student”  from the drop down menu for Student Profile
      • New Burnaby Online Student, please choose “Enrolling as a Full Time Online Student” from the drop down menu for Student Profile, even if your child has attended school in Burnaby.
      • Please select the grade 8 or grade 9 courses as instructed by the Academic Advisor in your conversation with her.
    • Keep in mind that registration acceptance only moves the registrant to the review stage, it does not guarantee entrance into our program.  We advise adding burnabyschools.ca to your safe senders list in your email to avoid having our emails to you go into your SPAM or Junk folder.
    • Final approval and entrance will be granted: Once our team reviews all pertinent documents & paperwork, and if the student learning style fits the online learning profile.
    • At some point the Academic Advisor will send you the Student Learning Plan by email and for which the parent must approve.

  • STEP 3:  September

    • The full time grade 8 and 9 program will begin in September.  You will receive more information at that time.
