For August completion courses, students are completing a four-credit course in five weeks (July 2 – August 2). In order to complete the course successfully, students must work on their course for approximately four hours per day. If this does not fit with your schedule, please register for the ten-month course. For the ten-month course, students can work at their own pace.

Any student looking to take a summer completion course, including those already taking a course with Burnaby Online, will need to register on our website on or after Tuesday April 2nd. Registration for summer completion courses will close Friday, June 21, 2024. We encourage those wanting a course to apply early. When registering for a summer completion course, ensure that the course you select has August Completion in its name. These courses are intended for students who plan to complete the course by August 2nd during the summer

Courses start at the end of June but students may begin working at any time after the course is opened.

Burnaby Online is now offering English First Peoples 12

Burnaby Online is now offering English First Peoples 12.

English First Peoples 12 is grounded in the First Peoples Principles of Learning. It focuses on the experiences, values, beliefs and lived realities of First Peoples as they are represented in a variety of texts, including oral story, poetry, song, performance, film and prose. The course is designed for all students – Indigenous or non-Indigenous – who are interested in delving deeply into First Peoples oral and written literature and visual texts in a range of media. A variety of writing exercises (formal and informal) will be undertaken as a means to exploring how students think and feel about the texts they have read. A key feature of the course is its focus on authentic First Peoples voices (using historical or contemporary texts created by or with First Peoples). While the focus in EFP 12 is primarily on First Peoples voices from BC, students will also engage with texts which reflect First Peoples’ experiences from elsewhere in Canada and throughout the world.
